Southgate Community Day
by Kevin Lewis
Southgate Community Day was a huge success, with fantastic weather providing the backdrop for a couple of hundred people to enjoy games, shows, face-painting and much much more! Below are some photos that capture something of what went on!
The bouncy castle and retro games were a great draw for kids of all ages…
We were entertained by jugglers, including this knife juggling performance…
The giant skipping rope was great fun…
Hayley and friends did some wonderful face-painting, and almost managed to turn Spiderman into a half-decent Curate…
Peter Sumner provided a unique feature of our Community Day – an organ recital on our famous Father Willis!
The book-swap provided something a little more relaxing than the bouncy castle, and was a great opportunity to chat over coffee…
Zewe and other 6th formers from Holy Trinity School held a successful Cake Sale in The Gate, raising money for their trip to the link school in Sierra Leone later this year…
The Brownies came along and had their own stall, as well as joining in with other things like the balloon-modeling…
Once again The Gate Coffee Shop provided an ideal backdrop for relaxing and drinking quality fair-trade drinks…
Some took the opportunity to relax with the paper… And some big kids took over the bouncy castle!
With a fantastic Barn Dance in the evening as well, with live band The Crooked Stovepipe, it was a fantastic day!! Thanks to all who came, and to all who helped make it a great success.
